  2. Using POP3 and SMTP
  3. Using IMAP
  4. Using Exchange ActiveSync Server (EAS)

Method 1: Download & Use Outlook Connector

The Outlook/Hotmail Connector is one that helps to connect Outlook.com/Hotmail email account with OL and synchronize Outlook.com Emails, Contacts and Calendar to your local machine same as Exchange Server. It is to be noted down that Outlook Connector doesn’t support Tasks. To use Outlook Connector, you need to download Outlook Connector first.

  • After you’ve downloaded Outlook Connector, close all the opened program including Outlook and then install Outlook Connector
  • Start your Control Panel >> click on Mail section >> create a new account using connector
  • Click on Add >> fill in all the require information correctly such your username, email address and password, after that outlook will automatically set-up an account. To create the account yourself, Outlook Connector can be listed in the Additional Server types.
  • After Outlook Connector is configured into your computer, a data file will be created for Outlook.com account. At the same time, this file can be set as the default data file, you cannot deliver Outlook.com (Hotmail) to another data file. (You need to use POP3 if you want to use only one data file.) If you deliver mail from other accounts to the Outlook.com data file, that mail will be transferred to the Outlook.com server
  • When Outlook Connector creates any data file, that data file can only be used by the account that created it. If you some items in the Notes, Journals or Tasks folders, you need to export the folders to a local PST file before removing the account from your profile
  • It is to be noted down that Calendar and Contacts can’t be synced in Outlook.com folders. To upload it to the Hotmail server you need to move or copy the items to the Hotmail folders. See Merging Two Calendar Folders for instructions (This method works with all folder types)
